| In order to get a clearer understanding of information processing during consecutive interpreting and the standards for assessing interpreting quality,this practice report,on the basis of the interpretive theory of translation(ITT),examines the nature of interpreting process and analyzes main strategies for the simulated E-C consecutive interpreting of two episodes of the English talk show Round Table.This report consists of four Chapters.Chapter One briefly describes the task background,including task description,task preparation and the actual interpreting process.Chapter Two illustrates the perspective and core concepts of ITT as the theoretical framework and discusses criteria for assessing interpreting quality of this genre.Chapter Three demonstrates how information is processed and challenges are responded under the guidance of the ITT by presenting ten examples at the lexical,syntactical and discoursal level respectively with corresponding strategies.Chapter Four concludes with reflections on this interpreting task,highlighting three essential factors for ensuring interpreter’s professional performance: preparation,cognitive competence and language quality. |
