Research On The Narrative Strategy Of Character Documentary

The graduation work "going abroad" shows the life and work of two employees in Shengli Oilfield by documentary shooting.They choose not only to face the pressure of life,but also to go to the environment outside the system.Through the shooting of two representative employees,Zhang Zaiqing and Xia Minglong,they show the living state and spiritual world of the majority of employees who break into the oil field.They are the epitome of the middle-aged group who try their best to live in the new era.This paper takes the graduate works as the research sample,and takes the film narratology and film aesthetics theory as the research basis to analyze and study the narrative theory of character documentary.At the same time,in the artistic creation of documentary,carry out effective artistic exploration,bring some innovation to the research of narrative feature theory,and integrate theory with practice to guide the shooting of graduation works.In the writing characteristics part of the paper,the narrative theory of character documentary is analyzed and summarized from two parts: narrative techniques and narrative characteristics;Combined with graduation works,this paper expounds the narrative characteristics of character documentaries: the emotional care of small people,the characterization of stories,the presentation of cross narrative structure and the theme of dramatic conflict.In the performance of narrative techniques,it makes a systematic analysis from the shaping skills of characters,the use of lens language,the treatment of the relationship between sound and painting and montage’s performance skills,and focuses on refining and combing the narrative logic and theme of the whole film.This paper tries to explore the narrative characteristics and expression techniques of the works through the research on the theory of narrative characteristics,so as to arouse the thinking of the audience.Through the analysis and Reflection on the creation of the character documentary "going abroad",this paper calls on more people in the society to pay attention to the living conditions of a group of employees of state-owned enterprises going abroad.At the same time,it is also hoped that this paper can stand on the level of narrative feature theory and provide some reference and help for the narrative strategies and expression skills of the theme of social small people in the character documentary.
