| This report is based on the translation practice of the book An Economic History of the World Since 1400.Economic history is a professional field that combines economics with history.Its writing intention is to provide reliable historical facts of economic changes for economic research,and to sum up the process and law of economic relations and economic system development in a certain or different country(region)with the development of history.The translation of this book can introduce the development of world economy and world history to Chinese readers,realize the exchange of academic information on economics between countries,improve the information level of domestic scholars in related fields,and finally gain corresponding experience and lessons to serve the domestic economy and development.Under the guidance of Skopos Theory,this translation report discusses the practical application of Skopos Theory in economic history texts from the perspectives of lexical,syntactic and textual levels,and concludes the skills suitable for economic history text translation.This report specifically discusses the translation of terminology and polysemous words at the lexical level.For terminology,transliteration and annotation are good translation ways.When encountering polysemous words,the author consulted in relevant corpora and terminology databases to determine the meaning of some specific words.In the aspect of sentence,several translation methods are adopted,including changing word order,and using brackets to make the text more readable.In textual levels,this report mainly discusses the cohesion between sentences,and adopts the methods of changing word order and addition in translation.The author hopes that this translation project can provide valuable reference for people interested in studying economic history. |
