| The second level requirements for English reading in primary school in compulsory education English Curriculum Standard(2011 Edition)mentioned that "be able to read simple stories or short passages with the help of pictures and develop the habit of reading according to meaning groups".It can be seen that China pays more attention to English Reading Teaching in primary school.The curriculum standard requires that students’ reading habits,reading interests and reading ability should be cultivated in primary school.By investigating the reading teaching of primary school English teachers in Haikou and the current situation of primary school students’ English reading in class,the researchers found that primary school students’ English reading needs to be improved actively,there is less peer interaction in the learning process,and teachers’ teaching concept of reading is relatively backward.Reading circle is a new teaching mode integrating autonomous learning and cooperative learning.It can be generally summarized as "read-think-connect-ask-share".In the reading circle activities,teachers can provide students with a relatively free learning environment,only as guides and helpers for students.In the activities,middle school students can independently read English books,think about them,put forward questions they think are meaningful to the text,and the group members connect with the reality of life and discuss them,and finally share the results of the discussion.Theoretically speaking,this teaching model can change the problems existing in English Reading Teaching in primary schools to a certain extent.Therefore,this study introduces the "reading circle" model into English Reading Teaching in primary schools,hoping to explore the path to change the current situation of English Reading Teaching in primary schools in Haikou.The research question of this study is how to implement the "reading circle" mode in English reading teaching in Haikou primary schools.The researcher designed an action research program around this problem,using two research methods of interview and classroom observation.The research process was mainly carried out through two rounds of action research.In the first round of action research,two problems of how to assign and cultivate the role of reading circle were studied.The second round continued the research on how to allocate the roles of reading circle and how to design the activities of reading circle.Through two rounds of revision of the action research program,the research conclusion is finally drawn.After two rounds of action research,the researcher found that the teaching mode of "reading circle" has certain feasibility and operability in Haikou Primary School English teaching,but how to carry out the specific needs of teachers according to the learning situation and teaching conditions of the specific implementation plan of reading circle.After the first round of action research,the researchers reached two conclusions by interviewing students and analyzing teaching logs: 1)In actual teaching,the six roles of "reading circle" mode could not be fully utilized,and it was necessary for researchers to delete the roles of reading circle based on the actual teaching situation;2)When cultivating the characters of reading circle,the dominant mode has the best effect.After the first round of action research,researchers found three problems simultaneously: 1)When students engaged in reading circle activities,the order of sharing in the first round of research plan was not conducive to students’ summarization;2)Students lack relevant background knowledge when reading picture books;3)There are also some problems in the activity design of reading circle.By collecting data and reflecting on the results,the researcher adjusted the research plan of the first round,deleting the two roles of word master and cultural connector in the reading circle,and adding an introduction link in class and an after-class link in reading circle activities.In the second round,we will continue to study the role allocation and activity design of reading circle.The researchers found that the reading group leader played the most important role,and the reading group leader was easier to complete their own tasks.However,the task of connecter in real life is relatively difficult to complete,and the researchers found that students’ understanding of this role is superficial.As for the role of text interpreter,students do not have a good grasp of emotions when sharing.At the same time,researchers found that appropriate introduction is beneficial for students to carry out picture book reading.Due to the short time of this study,there will be some deviations in the conclusions or problems that have not been thoroughly studied.It is hoped that future researchers can continue to study in these aspects.The study in addition to explore reading circle "model in the implementation of primary school English reading teaching,also found that the circle of" reading "model has a certain positive effect on primary school English reading teaching,the teaching mode can improve the students’ reading interest,to a certain extent,change the students’ reading habits,improve the student’s participation,It is hoped that this study can provide some reference value for future researchers. |
