The improvement of China’s comprehensive national strength will further boost the international Chinese language learning.Teaching Chinese as a foreign language is an important pillar of international Chinese education,and the research of teaching materials is of great significance to the international Chinese teaching.Meanwhile,the topic is the center and theme of the textbook and the “HSK Standard Course”occupies an important position in international Chinese education,so studying the topic setting in the textbook has certain reference significance for textbook compilation and teaching.This paper takes the topics in the “HSK Standard Course” level 1-6 as the research objects,and investigates the topics of the textbooks from two perspectives:the textbooks and the feedback on their use.Firstly,the textbooks are investigated from three dimensions: topic content,topic arrangement,and topic cultural items on the basis of Zhao Xiaoyan’s(2007)research dimensions of textbook topics,and the topic settings of textbooks are compared with “International Chinese Education Chinese Proficiency Standards”(2021);Secondly,some questionnaire surveys and interviews are conducted on the international students and teachers of the International Education College of Guizhou University and Guizhou Normal University,so as to analyze their feedback and suggestions on the topic setting of the“HSK Standard Course”.The research finds that the topic of the textbook has strong practicability,extensive contents and rich cultural items,the overall topic setting is of good situation.However,there are some shortcomings such as insufficient topic diversity,slightly low authenticity and uneven distribution.Considering the setting of topics in the textbooks and the survey feedback results,this study puts forward some suggestions in terms of the students’ learning,the teachers’ teaching and the topic compilation of textbook.Specifically,students should combine classroom learning with after-school learning,and actively practice the topics they have learned;teachers should adjust the distribution and arrangement of topics flexibly and innovate the teaching methods of different topics;the textbook should be compiled in accordance with authentic principle,scientific approach and the change of era,and etc.This study is expected to provide some references for the topic research of Chinese as a foreign language textbook.
