A Report On The Translation Of The Cosmos Economy(Chapter Ten To Twelve)

The report is based on the translation practice of chapter ten to twelve excerpted from the book The Cosmos Economy.The three chapters,covering the importance and visions of cosmos economy as well as the challenges faced by it,can help readers learn more about the cosmos economy and focus more on the national space enterprise.The source text,as an informative text,aims to convey information related to the cosmos economy to readers.To make the information accurate and complete,at the lexical level,there are considerable abstract nouns and attributive adjectives.At the syntactic level,there are many passive sentences and complex sentences.In this report,under the guidance of the communicative translation theory put forward by Peter Newmark,difficulties are summarized from the lexical and syntactic level and corresponding measures are proposed based on the source text and the translation practice.At the lexical level,to deal with abstract nouns,conversion and amplification are adopted.To translate attributive adjectives,conversion plus amplification and repetition are applied.At the syntactic level,for passive sentences,conversion of voice and conversion of sentence pattern are utilized.For complex sentences,cutting,reversing,and recasting are employed.These methods are adopted to make translation conform to the reading habits of Chinese readers for better communication.Finally,the translator summarizes the translation practice by pointing out the lessons gained and the problems to be solved in the future practice.It is hoped that this report can be helpful to translate the text related to cosmos economy.
