| Since the referendum of Brexit on June 23rd,2016,Brexit has exerted a wide and profound influence on the political and economic structure of the world.This report takes This Sovereign Isle: Britain in and out of Europe by Robert Tombs,a professor of history at Cambridge University as the material,and under the guidance of Christiane Nord’s Function Plus Loyalty Theory,analyzes the problems encountered in this English-Chinese translation practice and put forward solutions.This report is divided into six chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly introduces the background,purpose and significance of this report.The second chapter is task description,including the introduction of translation materials.This chapter mainly analyzes the features of historical literature and its translation studies at present.The third chapter is the translation process,including pre-translation,while-translation and post-translation.The fourth chapter is the introduction of theory,explaining the basic concept of Nord’s Function Plus Loyalty Theory and its feasibility in guiding this report.The fifth chapter is case analysis.Based on Nord’s Function Plus Loyalty Theory,this chapter analyzes the cases from two translation strategies: documentary translation and instrumental translation,and reviews the problems encountered in the process of completing the first draft,and how to use the theory to propose solutions.The sixth chapter is the conclusion,summarizing the experience of this translation practice,as well as the shortcomings.Under the guidance of Nord’s Function Plus Loyalty Theory,the translation conveys information of the original text and retains the unique language features of the original text.This also proves that Nord’s Function Plus Loyalty Theory is feasible to guide this report.At the same time,the author hopes that Nord’s Function Plus Loyalty Theory can be more widely used to guide the translation process of historical literature and provide some reference for other types of translation practice. |
