Research On "New Henan Daily" And Japanese Puppet Public Opinion Propaganda (1938-1945)

The New Henan Daily was founded in June 1938 and finally published in August1945,and was published in Kaifeng for seven years."New Henan Daily" is the organ newspaper of the pseudo-Henan Provincial Office,and once became the largest traitor newspaper in the occupied areas of Henan.The newspaper has made great efforts to publicize Japanese false words and deeds;in addition,its newspaper and periodical organization is similar to that of Japanese newspapers;all aspects of newspaper and periodical distribution are strictly controlled by the Japanese side;public opinion propaganda contains a large number of reactionary contents;the text shows a flattering posture;it has close relations with the Japanese and puppet parties,and is the mouthpiece of the Japanese and puppet ruling Henan."New Henan Daily" is published daily,with comment columns,news columns and supplementary columns.The commentary column mainly expounds on important events at home and abroad,especially political events,and can best reflect the political intentions of Japan and falsity;the news column has the largest length,focuses on war content,and is the main body of propaganda in newspapers and periodicals."New Henan Daily" attaches great importance to the operation mode of newspapers and periodicals,and increases the number of newspaper subscriptions and newspaper revenues by actively interacting with readers,frequently adjusting quotations,distributing and distributing sales,etc.,and meets the "commercial" requirements of newspapers and periodicals.At the same time,the New Henan Daily strictly controls the source of the manuscript,the news agency under the Japanese management system is the main source of the manuscript,and the Japanese pseudodignitaries and traitors who are closely related to the Japanese side are also an important group of authors of the newspaper.By publicizing public opinion that meets the needs of Japan’s aggression and cooperating with Japan’s ideological rule.The New Henan Daily cooperated with Japan in ideological propaganda,strengthening ideological control over groups such as students,ordinary people,and members of the Kuomintang and communist party,in a vain attempt to achieve rapid and lasting colonial rule.Looking at the propaganda content of the "New Henan Daily",it was different in different stages of Japan’s implementation of the colonial war.In the early stage of Japan’s all-out invasion of China,public opinion propaganda mainly focused on "destroying the unified war of resistance between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party",and made a lot of false reports on Chiang Kai-shek,the Communist Party and the relationship between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party.After Japan’s plan to quickly destroy China was shattered,the focus of press propaganda was the "police strengthening movement",and propaganda was carried out from three main aspects:politics,economy and ideology.After the outbreak of the Pacific War,the propaganda focus of the "New Henan Daily" has changed significantly,mainly focusing on the "Greater East Asia War",full of advocacy for the victory of the so-called "jihad".The "New Henan Daily" attempts to build a public opinion system dominated by Japanese and pseudo-Japanese,and vigorously promotes Japanese colonialism,and its propaganda reports can best reflect some of the commonalities of public opinion propaganda carried out by pseudo-newspapers,that is,strictness,enslavement,deception,colonization,and so on.Based on the special background of the times,the "New Henan Daily" shows certain individual differences in the common characteristics of the propaganda of the fake newspapers,and the nature of the Japanese puppet regime is more "authentic" and the colonial aggression ideas are more comprehensive.Both the Kuomintang and the Communists exposed the deceptive methods of the Japanese and the puppets,and the people stubbornly resisted;the system of public opinion constructed by the Japanese and the pseudo-Japanese does not have much practical influence,and the colonialist propaganda they vigorously promoted ended in failure.
