| With unexpected outbreak of COVID-19,the global energy demand and consumption have been changed a lot,posing a threat to the development of energy sectors.Therefore,the translation of energy texts can help domestic researchers know the situation of the energy sector.The report summarizes the E-C translation practice of the World Energy Outlook2020(WEO 2020)excerpts.This energy text contains concise and standardized language,a large numbers of energy terms and long complex sentences,which outlines the global energy demand combined with various scenarios to readers.The translation is under the guidance of text typology theory.First,the translator analyzes the characteristics of the material and classifies it as an informative text based on the descriptions of text typology theory,and summarizes the problems encountered.Then,under the guidance of translation theory,the communicative translation method is adopted in the translation practice on lexical,syntactic,and discourse levels.At lexical level,literal translation and free translations are adopted.At syntactic level,translation techniques like addition,combination,division,conversion,and reconstruction are employed.At discourse level,grammatical and logical cohesion are carefully considered.Finally,the main findings and limitations are summarized.The report aims to enhance the translation quality through the guidance of text typology theory,hoping to provide a reference for the translation of similar texts in the future. |
