Research On The Influence Of Confucian Culture On Enterprise R&D

In recent years,with the active promotion of China’s scientific and technological selfreliance and self-improvement,the intensity of reform has been strengthened,and technological innovation has achieved certain results.However,China’s key core technology areas still need breakthroughs,and the quality of research and development still needs to be strengthened.In order to strengthen technological innovation,the government issued the Administrative Measures for the Identification of High-tech Enterprises to provide strong support for enterprises to carry out research and development activities.Once it is identified by the government as a high-tech enterprise,it can enjoy many policy benefits such as tax incentives.Only by meeting the conditions in the Measures for the Administration of the Identification of High-tech Enterprises can enterprises obtain the qualification of high-tech enterprises.Among these many requirements,the most important is the mandatory condition for the proportion of R&D investment.Due to the temptation of preferential policies,some enterprises have met the conditions in the "Measures for the Administration of The Identification of High-tech Enterprises" through R&D manipulation and become pseudo-high-tech enterprises,so that government policies cannot meet the original expectations.This thesis uses this as the cutout,explore the direction of governance research and development.In recent years,the academic community has discussed and studied the influencing factors,means,economic consequences and governance direction of R&D manipulation from the perspective of formal institutions.One of the important expressions of cultural as an informal system can be constrained from human behavior from human psychology and ideas.Therefore,on the basis of the conventional research,this thesis explores the influence of Confucian culture on enterprise research and development and management behavior and the influence path of Confucian culture on R&D and manipulation,and analyzes the nature of different property rights and different institutional environments.The Influence of Confucian Culture on Enterprise R&D.This thesis selects Chinese listed companies from 2008 to 2020 as a research sample to empirically examine the influence of Confucian culture on the R&D manipulation behavior of enterprises.Studies have shown that Confucian culture and research and development manipulation have a negative correlation.That is,theoretics of enterprises have been influenced by Confucian culture.Through mechanism testing,this thesis also found that the concepts of"righteousness","faith","etiquette" and "prudence and introspection" in Confucian culture affect the R&D manipulation behavior of enterprises by enhancing the sense of social responsibility of enterprises,strengthening the construction of a good and moral environment,and enhancing the implementation of internal control.Further research found that in non-stateowned enterprises,Confucian culture exerted a stronger inhibition of R&D manipulation.In areas where the institutional environment is better,Confucian culture is more likely to inhibit corporate R&D manipulation,that is,Confucian culture has a complementary role with formal systems for corporate R&D manipulation.The results of the study provide empirical evidence for the role of synergistic formal and informal systems,and also provide ideas for enterprises to develop the governance of manipulative behavior.
