Since its establishment in 1917,China Vocational Education Association has been committed to the practice of vocational education.With the implementation of vocational education practice and the maturity of vocational education theory,the great vocational education doctrine that advocates the combination of vocational education and rural social improvement has been formed.Under the influence of the theory of great vocational education,the Huangxu Experimental Zone,with rural vocational education as its prominent feature,was established and developed in Zhenjiang,Jiangsu.The establishment of Huangxu Experimental Area stems from the ideal of rural vocational education held by its founder,China Vocational Education Association.It is also inseparable from the desire of leaders in Huangxu Village to revitalize their hometown,and is also closely related to the local government’s desire to revitalize the countryside and reverse the decline of the countryside through the rural construction movement.Before the establishment of the experimental zone in Huangxu,there was a lot of wasteland,and the villagers lived in hardship,resulting in economic decline.Under this circumstance,Leng Xuan,one of the founders of China Vocational Education Association,resolutely joined in the wave of rural construction,established Zhenjiang Huangxu Experimental Area,committed to industry and education to save the country,and made significant contributions to the cause of rural construction in Zhenjiang.Under the guidance of the China Vocational Education Society and the Cold War,the implementation of rural vocational education in the Huangxu Experimental Zone was quite distinctive during the rural construction movement at that time.Its implementation models included school education and social education.The Huangxu Experimental Zone has become the main battlefield of rural vocational education by establishing rural normal schools,rural nursing schools,horticultural vocational schools and other schools to educate rural vocational education institutions.By establishing social education rural vocational education institutions such as public education centers,public schools,and vocational tutoring schools,it has become an important supplement to the implementation of rural vocational education in the Huangxu Experimental Zone.The Huangxu Experimental Zone is the second rural improvement experimental zone established by the Chinese Vocational Education Society after the Xugongqiao Experimental Zone.However,the Huangxu Experimental Zone is not a simple imitation of the Xugongqiao Experimental Zone,but has formed its own characteristics and uniqueness in the process of handling it.The implementation of vocational education in rural areas of Huangxu is a product of cooperation among various forces such as the government,social organizations,and village leaders.In the development process,emphasis is placed on multi-party cooperation,which has a clear cooperative nature.The implementation of vocational education in rural areas of Huangxu is closely related to rural society and has obvious characteristics of being suitable for agriculture.In addition,compared to other rural improvement pilot areas,rural vocational education in Huangxu pilot area highlights its professional characteristics.Since its establishment in November 1929,Huangxu Experimental Zone has taken on a new look and has become a rising star among many rural construction experimental zones during the Republic of China period.In 1937,the War of Resistance Against Japan broke out,and the Japanese army invaded Zhenjiang.Huangxu Town fell,and the cause of rural improvement in Huangxu came to an end.From the perspective of the development history of rural vocational education,the implementation of rural vocational education in the Huangxu Experimental Zone has accumulated a lot of historical experience,enriching the theory and practice of modern rural vocational education.Although the Huangxu Experimental Zone was suspended due to the influence of war factors,it cannot be denied that there are also certain problems in the process of handling the Huangxu Experimental Zone,such as unstable personnel in the management organization of the experimental zone,ideological constraints of the villagers,and insufficient construction funds.The establishment of the Huangxu Experimental Zone provides many historical references for today’s rural revitalization.
