Adolescence is an important period of significant changes in physical appearance, and teenagers pay more and more attention to their bodies. With the rapid development of adolescence, many teenagers are dissatisfied with their bodies.Body dissatisfaction refers to the perception of the difference between their physical appearance and the ideal physical appearance, resulting in cognitive, emotional, behavioral and perceptua l troubles. When the degree of body dissatisfaction is high,it will bring great psychological burden to oneself, and even affect the normal life of individuals. With the development of social media networks,Posting selfies on social networking sites has become a more and more popular activity among teenagers, who often use mobile phones to take photos of themselves and upload them to the Internet.According to social and cultural theories and objectification theories, such self-presentation is easy to make teenagers treat themselves as objects and have dissatisfaction with their bodies. This study mainly examines the influence of selfie behavior on adolescents’ body dissatisfaction, and the role of selfobjectification and self-compassion,so as to provide suggestions for reducing adolescents’ body dissatisfaction. In this study,a total of 966 adolescents from Harbin,Heilongjiang Province and Baoding,Xingtai,Hebei Province were surveyed using the self-timer Behavior Questionnaire,Body Monitoring Scale,self-compassion Scale and Negative Body Self Scale, which further revealed the internal mechanism of self-timer behavior,selfobjectification,self-compassion and body dissatisfaction. The results are as follows:1.Selfie behavior,self-objectification,self-compassion and body dissatisfaction have significant differences in gender and grade; There was a significant difference in self-compassion between place of origin and only child.2.Selfie behavior,self-objectification,self-compassion and body dissatisfaction were significantly correlated in pairs.3.Self-objectification partially mediates the relationship between self-portrait behavior and body dissatisfaction.Selfie behavior can not only have a direct impact on body dissatisfaction, but also have an indirect impact on body dissatisfaction through selfobjectification.4.Self-compassion moderates the mediating effect of self-objectification,and selfcompassion moderates the latter half of the mediating process.Speci fically, when the level of self-compassion is low,the positive prediction of self-objectification on body dissatisfaction is significant, while the high level of self-compassion can effectively buffer the effect of self-objectification on body dissatisfaction.5.The four variables of selfie behavior,self-objectification,self-compassion and body dissatisfaction form a moderated mediation model. Conclusions: Selfie behavior can directly and indirectly predict body dissatisfaction through positive prediction of self-objectification.Self-compassion can buffer the effect of self-objectification on body dissatisfaction. Therefore, teenagers’ dissatisfaction with their bodies can be reduced by correctly guiding them to view selfie behavior and body functions, reducing self-objectification level, strengthening self-compassion awareness and improving self-compassion level.
