| Ge Ming,a Chinese-American pianist and educator,holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Music Education from the University of Arizona.He is a member of the "Appassionato" passionate piano duo,resident in the Beijing Symphonic Band.Ge Ming is dedicated to performing and promoting classical repertoire for two pianos.His arrangement work for two pianos,"Memories and Fantasia of Bellini’s ’Norma’," is based on Franz Liszt’s solo piano composition "Réminiscences de Norma." Liszt,a renowned musician in 19th-century Europe,excelled in composing arrangements of opera themes,making significant contributions to the development,performance,and composition of piano music of his time."Réminiscences de Norma" is one of Liszt’s most important opera arrangements.Ge Ming’s arrangement for two pianos builds upon his extensive research on Liszt’s piano works,enriching the repertoire of two-piano compositions worldwide and highlighting Liszt’s importance in the field of piano arrangements.This paper focuses on two aspects: music textual analysis and performance exploration,divided into three chapters.The first chapter provides a concise introduction to Ge Ming’s creative background,arrangement ideas and his arrangement characteristics.The second chapter delves into music textual analysis,examining the structural elements and thematic arrangement features of the two-piano composition.The third chapter primarily investigates performance aspects,discussing sound color treatment,dynamics,tempo,and providing suggestions and methods for interpretation.The first two sections offer detailed explanations from the perspective of sound color,dynamics,and tempo,while the third section analyzes the collaboration and coordination between the two pianos and offers the author’s own suggestions for tackling technical challenges.This paper aims to provide advice and assistance to future scholars and performers studying and playing this composition. |
