The academic research on Dawenkou culture is mostly based on the burial materials.Through the research on the burial materials, scholars found that the Haidai region had undergone dramatic social changes in Dawenkou period, such as the emergence of private ownership, the emergence of classes, and the dawn of early civilization.Compared with this, the research on the residence materials is slightly insufficient. Some scholars have noticed that there is a big difference between the burial materials of Dawenkou culture and the materials of the residence site, especially in the pottery color and decoration. This is just a small aspect.Tombs and residential sites are two kinds of archaeological relics, and the difference between them is obvious.Residential sites are the main activity places of the living and the true portrayal of the daily production and life of the residents. They include a variety of types of relics, and the causes are also diverse.Tombs are closely related to the dead, and there are fewer types of relics. The causes are mainly the memory and commemoration of the dead by the living. In Dawenkou period, for the whole society, the social content reflected by the burial materials should be only some aspects. In order to understand the society at that time comprehensively and accurately, the research on the residence materials should be essential. In the materials of residence site, the house site is a representative relic. As the main activity place of people, the construction of the house site involves many aspects such as site selection, materials, technology, planning, layout, etc. These contents more or less contain social information at that time, such as population, economy, social structure, clan blood relationship, etc. In recent years, with the progress of archaeological work, the site of Dawenkou cultural house has been found continuously. Then, through the study of the house site,we can further understand the social situation at that time. This paper is divided into the following parts:The introduction part introduces the reasons for choosing this topic, the research status, research methods, innovations, etc. The first chapter is about the collection and arrangement of Dawenkou cultural house site data, and a brief division and staging.Dawenkou cultural houses are found in southwest Shandong,Jiaodong Peninsula, northern Shandong, southeast Shandong and northern Jiangsu and Anhui, with more in southwest Shandong and Jiaodong Peninsula. Most of the Dawenkou cultural house sites have been found in the early and late Dawenkou culture, and the number of them found in the middle is small. The second chapter, from the micro level, makes an archaeological observation on the overall shape and local facilities of the Dawenkou cultural house site. The overall shape is carried out from four aspects: the building type, the building structure, the plane shape and the area of the house site. The local facilities mainly include the wall base, the column hole, the living area, the kitchen range, the door shed and the roof.It is observed that both have stage characteristics and diachronic evolution. For example, from early to late, the overall shape of the house site gradually evolves from the foundation pit type to the ground type, and the plane shape evolves from irregular ellipse, circle and other shapes to square. The third chapter, from the settlement level, selects typical sites, observes the spatial layout and changes of the house site and analyzes the reasons for the change of the house site, and studies the social situation reflected by the Dawenkou cultural house site from the aspects of social economy, social structure, clan blood society, etc. The last part is the conclusion.
