A Report On E-C Translation Of When Translation Goes Digital(Chapter One) Based On The Translation Variation Theory

In the digital era,all aspects of human life are undergoing unprecedented changes.Translation,as one of the most important means of cultural communication in life,combined with digitalization,follows the global trend and is developing well.Similarly,translation technology has been updated and improved rapidly,and is widely used in the language service industry.Therefore,as an inevitable trend in the digital era,artificial intelligence translation technology has also become a significant part of translation research.Focusing on this trend,the translator selects the first chapter of part I of When Translation Goes Digital for translation practice,which focuses on topics related to the integration of translation and digitalization,introducing various concepts about translation technology and explaining the ethical relationship between human beings and translation technology.Considering that the source text is an informative text whose main purpose is to express facts and convey information,the translator expresses professional concepts in a concise and clear way in the translation process to enhance the readability of the translation.In the process of translation,the translator encounters a number of difficulties at the lexical level,syntactic level and textual level,for example,whether the translation of terms should be added,whether redundant information should be deleted,whether sentences with similar structure should be combined and so on.In response to the above problems,the translator,under the guidance of the translation variation theory,uses various variant translation methods such as adding,editing and deleting to solve key and difficult points in translation.Through this translation practice,the translator trained and improved her translation competence and literacy,deepened her knowledge of translation variation theory and increased her understanding of machine translation and translation technology.In this practice report,the usage of various variable methods and techniques not only consider how to improve the readability of the translation,but also enhance the translator’s subjectivity and maximize the translator’s “visibility”.In view of this,the translator hopes that this practice report can provide some reference for informative texts of scientific topics.
