| For doctors and beauty seekers in China’s medical cosmetology discipline, the most direct way to know and understand a product’s information is the product instruction.Due to the particularity of aesthetic medicine products, the audience of them are sometimes not only doctors’ groups, but also consumers.Unlike other product instructions, aesthetic medicine product instructions have high requirements for professionalism. In addition, unlike traditional medical instructions, aesthetic medicine instructions often include the translation of drugs and injection devices,as well as their operation and use methods. Therefore, the translation quality of this manual undoubtedly plays an extremely important guiding role in clinical use, even propaganda.Text Typology was first proposed by Katharina Reiss,a German translator. On this basis,Peter Newmark,a British translator, classifies texts systematically and perfectly describes the characteristics of various texts in detail.Newmark mainly divides text types into informative text, expressive text, and vocative text.In addition,Newmark believes that a text is not completely and clearly divided into a certain type, but often has two or more functions. This paper makes use of Newmark’s text typology to study the EnglishChinese translation of aesthetic medicine product instructions.Through the research, the following conclusions are drawn, first, aesthetic medicine product instructions belong to informative texts with informative functions.Secondly, through the analysis of the vocabulary level and sentence level of the instruction, the author finds that the translation of the instruction adopts the strategies of semantic translation and communicative translation,as well as the methods of division, reorganization, combination, voice conversion, omission and amplification. This paper takes the translation of the instruction of JUVEDERM hyaluronic acid for injection as an example and analysis the translation to study the translation strategy and methods,so as to provide a new reference for the translation of the instructions of aesthetic products in the future. |
