A Report On CNN Business News Translation From The Perspective Of Newmark’s Communicative Translation Theory

With the development of globalization,China,the world’s second most powerful economy,has close contact with other countries in politics,economy,and culture.Therefore,it’s important to catch up with the global real-time dynamics.Business news,providing truth and information as a priority,focuses on current events,which is regarded as a convenient channel to know the latest international situation.The author chooses 11 news articles from the Business News section on the CNN website to analyze the application of communicative translation theory in business news translation from the aspects of news headlines,words,and sentences.The author also adopts translation strategies such as free translation,annotating and voice conversion to improve the readability of the translated text,in order to provide a reference for business news translation.The paper is composed of four chapters.The first chapter is about the project introduction analyzing the background,significance,and structure of the paper.Then the second chapter comes to the project preparation,including the principle and practicable of the communicative translation theory,the characteristics of business news,and the translator’s preparation for the project.The third chapter explains the case study under the guidance of communicative translation theory from three aspects:headline translation,lexical translation,and sentence translation.The last chapter concludes the paper,which summarizes the findings and limitations,and solutions of this translation practice.The author is willing to make a contribution to the study of business news translation in the future.
