The Application Of MT+CAT+PE In The Translation Of Industry Report

As an emerging translation workflow,machine translation + computer-assisted translation + post-editing(MT+CAT+PE)has a promising future for both commerce and translation practice.Even though some translators have applied this workflow in the translation of different types of texts,study on how to apply it in a translation project is comparatively limited and thus there is space for research.In this context,this translation report explores the application of MT+CAT+PE on the English-Chinese translation of a blockchain industry report.The source text is published by Innovation Centre Denmark(Shanghai),which illustrates laws,regulations,major players,researchers as well as the development and status quo of China’s blockchain industry.Translating this report could help stakeholders and investors to understand Chinese blockchain market.Following the process of translation preparation,CAT application and post-editing,this paper introduces how MT+CAT+PE works in the translation of blockchain industry report.In the text,the author explains how to utilize corpus and terminology in a translation project,how to select machine translation engine and how to use CAT tools on the platform.On top of summarizing the MT shortcomings in the translation of the blockchain report,this article proposes corresponding PE strategies with case analysis in the lexical,syntactic,textual and formatting levels,to fully exploit MT’s advantages and improve project efficiency.By reviewing the translation project,this paper discusses the application of MT+CAT+PE in the English-Chinese translation of the blockchain report,introduces the tools used in the process,and concludes PE strategies based on relevant MT problems.The author hopes the reviewing of project could provide reference for applying MT+CAT+PE workflow to the translation of other type of text,and hopes the identification of MT shortcomings and relevant PE strategies could help algorithm improvement and study on PE.
