A Report On The C-E Translation Of The Motivations And Effective Routes Of Europe’s Integration Into The Belt And Road Construction

Since 2020,the global spread of the COVID-19 and the increase in instability and uncertainty in the world economy have brought new challenges and opportunities to the promotion of the Belt and Road.The signing of the EU-China Comprehensive Agreement on Investment(CAI)is a new beginning for deepening China-EU economic and trade cooperation.While China-EU cooperation continues to deepen,the routes for Europe’s integration into the Belt and Road construction still needs to be explored.The report is based on the translation practice of the regional economic cooperation text The Motivations and Effective Routes of Europe’s Integration into the Belt and Road Construction.This report takes the practice of C-E translation of the above texts as the research object,and explores the translation strategies in the field of Belt and Road regional economic cooperation texts.Under the guidance of Skopos theory,combined with the language features of regional economic texts,the report introduces the difficulties in the process of translation practice and the corresponding solutions,including translation of economic terms without official translations and the phrases with Chinese characteristics,the processing of Chinese run-on sentences and the cohesion and coherence of discourse.According to the translation purpose,combined with the three rules of Skopos theory and the expression habits of the target language,the translator adopted a variety of methods to overcome different translation difficulties.For the translation difficulties of terms and the phrases with Chinese characteristics,the translator used the method of literal translation or liberal translation.For the problems of Chinese run-on sentences and parallel short sentences,the translator adopted methods such as merging and structural reorganization to make the translated text more fluent and logical.For the problem of discourse cohesion,the translator adopted methods such as reference and conjunction to make the cohesion of context closer.This project applied Skopos theory to the translation practice of regional economic cooperation texts,and brought inspirations to the translation research in this field.
