Research On The Construction Of Characters In Documentaries About Special Children

Documentary is the art of documentary,but the images presented need to be processed by art,not directly displayed.The characters recorded in the documentary have different images after the intervention of the creator.The main research object of this paper is children with special needs,and the three children are all visually impaired.Due to the lack of popularization of social-related awareness,the public has long been prejudiced in the cognition of special groups.Studying the image of special children,showing their survival dilemma,changing the public’s stereotype of special children,and updating the public’s cognition of them are of great significance for the healthy growth of special children and the necessary support from relevant departments..This article first puts forward what is the concept of constructing the character image of special children,and then summarizes the character characteristics displayed by special children by sorting out relevant documentaries and documents,that is,inferiority due to physical defects,low social participation due to lack of support and antagonism under consciousness awakening.Then,combined with the graduation works,the selection criteria of the three main characters in this film are proposed.Afterwards,I will discuss the shooting techniques of this film,and find a balance between intervention and observation.The expression of shots is an intuitive way to construct characters.This article discusses the use and functions of long shots,close-ups and empty shots.The later editing is also an important way of character construction,mainly from the selection of editing structure,the use of voice and narrative rhythm.The construction of a character image cannot be completed unilaterally,and requires the cooperation of various elements to make the character image full of vitality.Finally,the author reflects on the character construction of special children,and provides experience and reference for the creation of special children’s documentaries.
