| The New English Curriculum Standards for General High School has already regarded cultivating students’ English subject core literacy as the main target of English teaching.To achieve the training goal of English subject core literacy,it is necessary for students to contact and learn the excellent Chinese and foreign culture knowledge.Reading is the main channel of language input and an important way for people to obtain information,get to know the world and develop thinking.Reading plays a key role in improving English language ability,cultural awareness,thinking quality and learning ability.Only when students have reading ability can they better learn and master knowledge,improve appreciation ability and enrich the spiritual world.Therefore,how to cultivate students’ core literacy in English reading teaching has gradually become a hot spot in research.This paper selects second grade senior high school students and teachers in a high school in Wanzhou as the research objects.Based on literature analysis,this study uses different ways to collect information including classroom observation,questionnaire,and interview.This study is also mainly from the two perspectives of teachers and students,the three steps of pre-reading,while-reading and post-reading,the four dimensions of English subject core literacy,the five aspects of teaching objective,teaching method,teaching activity,teaching process and teaching evaluation to collect information to solve the following three problems: What is the current situation of high school English reading teaching under the background of English subject core literacy? What are the problems in high school English reading teaching and what are the reasons for those problems? How to better cultivate students’ English subject core literacy in high school English reading teaching?The survey finds that senior high school English teachers have initially formed the concept of English subject core literacy in teaching,but there are still deficiencies in the actual reading teaching process.In terms of language ability,teachers attach importance to the teaching of language knowledge but lack the training of language application ability;In terms of cultural awareness,there is no comparison of cultural differences;In terms of thinking quality,the problem designing lacks hierarchy and the cultivation of students’ critical thinking is insufficient;In terms of learning ability,the teaching form is solidified,which makes the students’ learning plan is not clear.To improve the current situation of high school English reading teaching,this paper puts forward some teaching suggestions from teachers’ perspective.First,teachers should strengthen theoretical literacy and constantly improve teaching concepts;Second,teachers should adhere to the student-oriented view and respect the subjectivity of students;Third,teachers should constantly optimize the basic elements of teaching design;Fourth,teachers should establish a teaching evaluation system which is consistent with English subject core literacy. |
