In this paper,American composer John Corigliano’s work Dylan Thomas Trilogy is selected as the study object,from the aspects of pitch organization,orchestration and musical form structure,to sort out the personality and common characteristics presented in each part of the work.The thesis includes three parts: introduction,main body and conclusion.The main body consists of four chapters.The first chapter gives a brief introduction to the composer and his work Dylan Thomas trilogy,and the second to the fourth chapter respectively makes a detailed analysis of each part of the trilogy—Fern Hill,the Poem of October and the Poem of His Birthday,focusing on the analysis of various musical phenom ena and summarizing the creative techniques and ideas used by the composer in this work.The conclusion summarizes the creation characteristics of the works,compares the similarities and differences of each part of the trilogy,and combs out the innovation and persistence of the composer in the creation concept in the past 16 years.
