Since the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,the climate issue has become urgent and important that needs to be addressed in China.The climate issue has become so serious that it affects human normal life.The source text is selected from chapters 4 to 6of Speed and Scale: Action Plan for Solving Our Climate Crisis Now.The source text mainly describes how humans can reduce emissions and remove carbon in the context of climate warming.Translating and studying this text provides practical significance for resolving the current climate crisis.The source text is a detailed action guide that requires readers to understand and practice the book’s content in their daily lives.The Reception Theory is a reader-centered theory,which not only emphasizes the reader center but also explains why it is necessary to take the reader as the center and how to achieve the subject status of the reader.The source text is a type of appealing text.The translator fully considers the reader’s status and allows the reader to fully accept the translation,achieving the purpose of appealing.Based on this,the translator selects the Reception Theory to guide this report.Under the theory’s guidance,translators must to thoroughly consider factors such as the target readers’ cultural background or lifestyle during translation and use translation methods such as addition,annotation,and free translation to enable them to understand and accept the original text.The practice report is divided into five parts.The first part introduces the translation materials,relevant background,and significance;The second part presents the process of translation;The third part presents the relevant theoretical knowledge of Reception Theory;The fourth part selects representative examples from the text to analyze the translation materials,and examines the translation expressions of individual words and sentences in the materials from three dimensions: reader-centered theory,the horizon of expectation,and fusion of horizons;The fifth part is the conclusion,summarizing the experience and shortcomings of this translation project.Through this translation practice,the translator has learned how to skillfully use translation techniques from the reader’s perspective to convey the meaning of the original text when different cultures collide.
