| The period of the Republic of China was an important period of transformation in modern Chinese society, particularly for the development of Yunnan women’s secondary vocational schools. In order to meet the requirements of the development of national capitalist economy,Yunnan has cultivated a large number of female workers for the society through women’s secondary vocational schools.Despite being impacted by frequent wars, social unrest, economic decline and other environmental factors,Yunnan women’s secondary vocational schools in the Republic of China has experienced great ups and downs, but still made invaluable achievements in school management and development. To this end,an investigation of the women’s vocational schools of the Republic of China in Yunnan Province was conducted to deepen the comprehensive understanding of Yunnan women’s vocational education during the Republic of China.By studying and analyzing historical experiences, the purpose is to seek historical references for deepening the reform of vocational education in Yunnan Province at present. At the end of the Qing Dynasty,Yunnan women’s secondary vocational education has shown signs. After the founding of the Republic of China, the joint effects of political, economic, policy and other factors have promoted the development of Yunnan women’s secondary vocational schools.Taking a comprehensive view of the running of Yunnan women’s secondary vocational schools during the Republic of China,it can be divided into three stages: the initial stage, the development stage and the setback stage. The period from 1912 to 1928 was the initial stage of prosperity. The society was in war for a long time and the education funds were often misappropriated, resulting in the closure of women’s secondary vocational schools that were just established in the early years of the Republic of China. The period from 1929 to 1940 was the period of development. With social stability and independent education funds,as well as increased investment in secondary vocational schools, which greatly increased the number of schools and students at this stage. The period from 1941 to 1949 was the setback stage. The impact of the War of Resistance Against Japan and the loss of independence in education funds led to a decrease in the number of women’s secondary vocational schools and students. However, due to the specific environment during the war, medical and nursing vocational schools were developed to a certain extent.By analyzing the organizational overview, funding management, teacher and student management,as well as the professional division, curriculum setting, student performance evaluation, and extracurricular internships of the schools in the above three stages,we can understand the operation of women’s secondary vocational schools in Yunnan during the Republic of China period.During this period,Yunnan women’s secondary vocational schools achieved certain results in promoting the awakening of women’s awareness of independence, and the graduation of students in various industries to some extent promoted the development of Yunnan’s economy. However, due to the limitations of the times, there were problems such as insufficient teaching staff, narrow professional settings, uneven school distribution, and difficult teaching conditions. In view of this, this paper proposes that the government should strengthen guidance and promote the cooperation of social forces in running schools, reasonably allocate teaching staff and strengthen the construction of vocational teacher teams, adapt to social needs and optimize the professional settings of vocational schools, focus on practical training and strengthen the deep cooperation between schools and enterprises. These four aspects can contribute to the development of Yunnan’s secondary vocational schools. |
