A Study On The Vocabulary Of Xuanwei Dialect

Xuanwei City is located in the northeast of Yunnan Province.Xuanwei dialect belongs to the Yunnan Chinese dialect of southwest mandarin.With the increasing penetration of Putonghua and the replacement of new and old dialects,some characteristic words of Xuanwei dialect have gradually disappeared.therefore,it is very necessary and urgent to describe and analyze the vocabulary of Xuanwei dialect carefully and comprehensively.This paper records and collates Xuanwei dialect vocabulary through field investigation,and uses dialectology,lexicology and other related theoretical knowledge to analyze the characteristics of Xuanwei dialect vocabulary in word formation,word formation,word meaning and so on.The full text consists of seven parts,including the introduction and the conclusion.In the introduction part,firstly,it briefly introduces the geographical and cultural situation and historical evolution of Xuanwei City,then returns the research status of Yunnan dialect and Xuanwei dialect,explains the research significance,research methods,selection basis,investigation object and so on,and finally describes the phonetic system of Xuanwei dialect.The first chapter studies the vocabulary structure of Xuanwei dialect,which is divided into two types: simple words and compound words.Xuanwei dialect has a large number of monosyllabic words,which is very different from Putonghua vocabulary in form.In compound word-formation,the number of compound words of positive type and verb-object type is in the majority,the reduplicated type is the most abundant,and there are many affixes with regional characteristics in the additional type.The second chapter is to study the meaning of Xuanwei dialect vocabulary.It is analyzed from the aspects of conceptual meaning,extended meaning,color meaning and grammatical meaning.The conceptual meaning is mainly manifested as the number of connotations and meanings;there are a large number of polysemous words in Xuanwei dialect,which produce a lot of characteristic meanings through extension;in terms of color meaning,there are a large number of colloquial words with derogatory meaning;grammatical meaning is mainly reflected in the two aspects of word category and word collocation ability.a small number of verbs in Xuanwei dialect are very active,flexible and can match different objects.The third chapter is the research on the motivation of Xuanwei dialect vocabulary.This paper analyzes the naming characteristics of Xuanwei dialect vocabulary from the perspectives of direct naming and indirect naming.The direct motivation mainly includes the attributes and characteristics of all aspects of things.The indirect motivation is mainly rhetorical motivation,and the dialect words made up of rhetorical motivation are very figurative and can express people’s feelings about things appropriately.The fourth chapter is the study of archaic words in Xuanwei dialect.From a diachronic perspective,this paper makes a textual research on the ancient sayings used in Xuanwei dialect,analyzes the historical characteristics of archaic words,and explores the dynamic process of the development and evolution of words.The fifth chapter mainly discusses the cultural connotation embodied in Xuanwei dialect vocabulary,and explores the cultural connotation behind Xuanwei dialect from the aspects of marriage and funeral,fertility folk custom,belief folk custom,diet and swearword culture,so as to make people understand Xuanwei’s customs and regional culture.
