| The policy of “Double Reduction” is an important breakthrough in China’s basic education reform,which carries the hope of solving the excessive academic burden.For homework,the “Double Reduction” policy puts forward the requirement of reducing the homework burden of students in compulsory education stage.Before the promulgation of the “Double Reduction” policy,English subject was criticized by students,parents and scholars for its large amount of homework and unreasonable homework design machinery,and gradually became the focus of attention under the background of“Double Reduction”.Therefore,the author will focus on the current situation of the English homework after the “Double Reduction”.This study mainly adopts the methods of literature study,questionnaire survey,interview survey and content analysis,and selects junior high school English teachers and junior high school students from three schools in Chongqing by stratified random sampling.Through systematic analysis of the survey results,the author finds that the junior high school English homework under the background of “Double Reduction” has a certain positive impact,but there are still some problems that need to be solved urgently:(1)Students’ recognition of the value of English after-school homework needs to be improved;(2)Teachers’ after-school homework is assigned for a more utilitarian purpose;(3)The amount of English after-school written homework is allocated in a larger proportion;(4)The type of English after-school homework is single and solidified;(5)The content of English after-school homework is not interesting and hierarchical;(6)The effectiveness and relevance of English after-school homework guidance and evaluation feedback are not enough.The reasons are mainly due to:(1)The miscellaneous workload of English teachers in the context of "double reduction" and the lack of communication among teachers of various subjects;(2)The professionalism and misconceptions of teachers in the context of "double reduction" need to be improved and corrected;(3)The lack of guidance and training of homework in schools;(4)The influence of the intrusion of utilitarian educational concepts.Based on the above reasons,this study analyzes the three perspectives of schools,teachers and homework itself,and then proposes improvement suggestions for optimizing English homework:(1)Schools should improve supporting support policies and optimize the homework system;(2)Teachers of each subject should negotiate homework and reasonably plan the amount of homework;(3)Teachers should enrich the types of homework and optimize the innovative design of homework;(4)Students should be respected as subjects and design graded homework;(5)Teachers should be flexible in the way of reviewing and promote diversified evaluation feedback. |
