This is a report on the translation of Fixing the Climate: Strategies for an Uncertain World,a book published by Princeton University Press in 2022 and co-authored by Charles F.Sabel and David G.Victor,the former one is a professor at Columbia University Law School and the latter one is a professor of International Relations and Industrial Policy at the University of California chapter three is selected as the source text.The book provides new ideas for the world to better cope with the climate changes,and highly emphasizes that emission reduction should start from ground-level.The main content of the source text is to discuss experimentalist governance and the need for institutions at all levels to rapidly develop their experimentalist governance capabilities.The language features of the source text include two aspects.At the lexical level,the source text uses a large number of terms.Syntactically,the source text tends to make prepositional phrases as adverbial clauses and there are a large number of parentheses and dashes in the source text.Based on these features,the translator selects Skopos theory as the guiding theory in an effort to convey the information and ensure that readers can easily understand the text.This report demonstrates several translation methods from the perspective of words and sentences.The translator had a grasp of translation methods and knew better about experimentalist governance in the process of translation.This report is expected to contribute to the translation of texts related to climate change solutions.
