As a basic component of language learning,vocabularies plays a fundamental and key role in English learning.However,for many English learners,they tend to only pay attention to the accumulation of vocabularies and ignore the learning of comprehensive and depth study of vocabularies such as collocation and meaning、grammatical features、vocabulary use accuracy.However,learners vocabulary depth knowledge is closely related to their learning concepts,methods,and strategies.Nassaji(2006)finds that the learners with deeper vocabulary knowledge will adopt vocabulary learning strategies more frequently.This study aims to explore the correlation between the use of vocabulary learning strategies and the vocabulary depth knowledge level of senior high school students.Based on processing hierarchy theory and construction theory,this study selects 102 students from a high school in Bai Cheng City,Jilin Province as the research subjects,and used questionnaires and test papers were used as research tools to explore the following three question:1.What’s the status quo of the use of vocabulary learning strategies adopted by senior school students?2.What’s the overall level of the vocabulary depth knowledge of senior high school students?3.What is the correlation between the use of vocabulary learning strategies and the level of vocabulary depth knowledge of senior high school students?Through Pearson correlation analysis,it is found that: firstly,learners tend to use a variety of strategies to learn English vocabulary,including meta-cognitive strategies,cognitive strategies and social emotional strategies.Secondly,in the vocabulary depth knowledge test,the average score of the subjects is 70.44.However,many students’ scores are below 60,which indicates that some students still do not fully grasp the vocabulary depth knowledge.Thirdly,among the three dimensions:meta-cognitive strategies,cognitive strategies and social affective strategies,cognitive strategies have the most significant correlation with lexical depth knowledge.Through the analysis,it is found that the use of vocabulary learning strategies can help students develop the level of vocabulary depth knowledge.
