| Since the publication of China’s Standards of English Language Ability(CSE)in2018,the scale has been extensively employed in foreign language learning, teaching and assessment.Such a phenomenon demonstrates that CSE is highly evaluated by domestic scholars. The vision to standardize domestic language assessment has arisen right after the publication of CSE,which is unlikely to be attained without the alignment between the large-scale examination and CSE.On account of the role the Test for English Majors Band 4(TEM 4)play in the domestic English assessment system, the alignment between TEM 4 and CSE will be an indispensable step in the realization of CSE’s objective.By tracing back to previous research, the present study employs comparative analysis and the four procedures proposed by the Relating Language Examinations to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning,Teaching,Assessment(CEFR),A Manual to explain the examination score by referring to the CSE.By comparative analysis,it is verified that similarities exist between CSE and TEM 4 in terms of their general purpose, significance and detailed items. Therefore, the feasibility of the alignment is verified and the alignment is conducted by referring to The Manual. The alignment process includes the cooperation from 10 postgraduate students and the verification stage invites 89 students, both of whom are English major.Data collected during the alignment process are analyzed through the SPSS and Win-steps in order to clarify the reliability of the alignment results.According to analysis, the alignment result is relatively reliable and the TEM 4 can be appropriately aligned to the CSE,level 6. |
