2021 is a year full of significance.It is the symbol of the founding of the Communist Party of China which has existed for 100 years.Apart from that,it is also the starting year of the 14^thfive year plan.Chairman Xi has pointed out that we must comprehensively implement the educational guidelines formulated by the Party,establish educational system that is of high quality and pave way for the establishment of the nation of powerful education.The middle school English teachers act as an unalterable role during the compulsory education phase.How well they carry out teaching has direct connection with the quality of the students’learning.As a consequence,it is of vital importance to master the present overall state of how the middle school English teachers in the district of Tanggu,Tianjin Binhai New Area carry out their classroom teaching.After reading and summarizing the information and material about the topic of various authors and countries,the thesis forms the model of teachers’ability in teaching.Moreover,questionnaires and interviews as well as data analyzing methods are utilized to inquire into the teaching competency of them.We can get the following results.The teaching competency of the middle school English teachers is generally good yet it also has some shortcomings.The marks of the four first-class indicators are:professional character,personal characteristics,teaching ability as well as knowledge structure.It is obvious that the middle school English teachers have great professional character but they have to better their basics of English.From the secondary indicators,the concept of students and personal characteristics are better while the liberal knowledge has to be developed.The teaching ability of various middle school English teachers is different.The results demonstrate the obvious contrast among different middle school English teachers.In terms of age,teaching age,the teacher’s titles,the teacher’s education background,the teaching competency is advanced with them.Apart from that,the sex,the quality of the schools,whether they are the head teachers don’t have close relationship with the teacher’s teaching competency.Many other factors also impact on the teaching competency of the middle school English teachers.It can be summarized from the interviews with the teachers that the professional knowledge structure,the lack of training and demonstration of advanced English classes and the teacher’s unwillingness to develop lead to the lower teaching competency.When we look at the levels of teaching competency of middle school English teachers nowadays,the paper comes up with some constructive suggestions and strategies in order to improve the teaching competency of middle school English teachers.In a word,the government,the educational management sectors,the schools as well as the English teachers themselves should do something meaningful.The government should increase the supporting policy towards the teachers,develop their social status as well as their salary,make their working and living environment better.As for the educational sector,it should construct the perfect training system,provide the chance for the teachers to demonstrate and communicate.It is necessary for the school to better the training courses of the teaching competency,guide the teachers to become professional,lessen the working stress for the teachers and offer the democratized working environment and the public atmosphere.The teachers should develop the teaching skills and aim to be a critical teacher,broaden the knowledge of English and information technology.They should pay special attention to the development of the character.They should set a good example for the students in terms of the attitude towards life and the complete personal character.
