Analysis Of Bess's Performance In The Opera Porgy And Bes

In this article,the author mainly focuses on Bess,the heroine in the opera called “Porgy and Bess”,and her performance of the aria called“Summertime” to conduct researches and analyses.The main body of the article is divided into three parts.Part One is creation backgrounds of the opera.It mainly introduces George Gershwin and the historical backgrounds when he made the creation.Part Two is musical analysis.It mainly discusses musical and cultural backgrounds of “Porgy and Bess”as well as analyses of musical techniques of “Summertime” excerpts.Part Three is singing analysis.Through analyses of performance versions of two singers,the author summarizes personal performance experience;takes integrated applications of bel canto with jazz as the starting point;combines phonetic features of the black people in the United States,image shaping of characters and expression of emotions;and makes integral analyses of understanding of the works and style controls of the works.
