A Study On The Musical Image Creation And Representative Singing Segments Of "Sun Mei Niang" In The Opera "Sandalwood Death

The national opera Sandalwood Punishment is adapted from the novel of the same name by the famous writer and Nobel Prize winner Mo Yan.It mainly tells the story that under the background of the occupation of the Shandong Peninsula by Germany at the end of the Qing Dynasty,Sun Mei Niang was intertwined with complex love and hate between her father(anti-German hero Sun Bing)and other characters,and finally Sun Bing was sentenced to sandalwood punishment.The complex relationship between Sun Mei Niang and other characters in the opera promotes the development of the contradictions of events,creates a fierce and unrestrained character image,and shows her bold pursuit of love and the courage to resist the Chinese awakened woman.The article is divided into five parts,which are analyzed and elaborated in detail from the aspects of opera content brief description,music analysis,character image shaping and singing experience.In the opera,Sun Mei Niang sang many fragments.The article analyzes two of them,namely the soprano aria "The Most Beautiful Swing in Life" and the male and female duet " Moonlight is like water.The two songs respectively show the psychological state of the characters in different scenes.The ideological theme of each song is clear,and the character’s personality is prominent,which is more conducive to the shaping of the characters.Explore the transformation of the character of Sun Mei Niang’s two characters and the singing skills of the song,and provide reference for later learners.
