| This paper,with a focus on the Northern Song Dynasty,sorted out and analyzed the acceptance of Liu Gongquan’s calligraphy in the Northern Song Dynasty,finding that Liu Gongquan’s calligraphy not only made a difference in its own style but also was internalized into the different style systems of various calligraphers.Thus,the paper ascertained the important role of Liu Gongquan’s calligraphy in calligraphy history,providing reference and reflection for us to learn Liu Gongquan’s calligraphy style.By studying the acceptance of Liu Gongquan’s calligraphy in the Northern Song Dynasty,the paper is mainly composed of the following four parts: first,analyze the style and causes of Liu Gongquan’s calligraphy;second,analyze the characteristics and changes of Liu Gongquan’s calligrapher image under the social environment of the Northern Song Dynasty;third,summarize the different ways and characteristics of the acceptance of Liu Gongquan’s calligraphic style by calligraphers of the Northern Song Dynasty;fourth,analyze the influence of Liu Gongquan’s calligraphy on the whole calligraphy ecology of the Northern Song Dynasty from the perspective of engraving style and epitaph in the Northern Song Dynasty.Inscription of Liu Gongquan’s calligraphy,as the important carrier for the acceptance and dissemination of Liu Gongquan’s calligraphy in later generations,is different from ink works in style and played a decisive role with its unique style in shaping Liu Gongquan’s style image in the history of calligraphy.The difference between inscriptions and ink works is most prominent in the inscriptions by the Shao brothers,Shao Jianhe and Shao Jianchu,who established the thin and hard stroke features of Liu Gongquan with their carving techniques,greatly affecting the understanding and acceptance of Liu Gongquan’s calligraphy in later generations.Being a high-ranking official in the late Tang Dynasty,Liu Gongquan’s image as a loyal official was highly praised by the Northern Song scholars under the social background of the Northern Song Dynasty that values literature over martial arts.At that time,the calligraphy of Yan Zhenqing and Liu Gongquan were associated with“Yan’s tendons and Liu’s bones”,which greatly influenced the formation of the evaluation and understanding system of Liu Gongquan’s calligraphy origin and style for later generations.This associating phenomenon also greatly influenced the comments of later calligraphers on Liu Gongquan’s calligraphy and made it subordinate to Yan’s style to a certain extent.In the practice of writing Liu Gongquan’s calligraphy by calligraphers in the Northern Song Dynasty,calligraphers of Huang Tingjian,Cai Jing and Mi Fu were selected as the research objects,and three main ways of acceptance of Liu Gongquan’s calligraphy by Song Dynasty calligraphers were summarized: first,the study of Liu Gongquan’s calligraphy style;second,the study of contemporary calligraphy styles similar to Liu Gongquan’s;third,criticism and reflection on Liu Gongquan’s calligraphy style.It was these three ways of acceptance that influenced and established the special status of Liu Gongquan’s writing style in the Northern Song Dynasty.Liu Gongquan’s calligraphic style also played a unique role in the social life of the Northern Song Dynasty,especially in lithography and epitaph inscriptions,which is of great significance to study the social influence of Liu Gongquan’s calligraphy in the Northern Song Dynasty. |
