A Report On The C-E Translation Of Walnut Oil Processing Technology(Excerpt) Under The Guidance Of Text Typology

China is the world’s largest producer of walnuts and one of the world’s centers of walnut origin.With the development of the domestic nut snack food market in recent years,demand for walnuts,China’s largest nut,has also increased,effectively promoting the rapid development of the walnut industry.Walnuts have also played a significant role in increasing farmer income and alleviating poverty through industry.Walnut oil,as a byproduct of walnuts,also plays an important role.Therefore,the study of Walnut Oil Processing Technology as a translation practice is crucial for the exchange and development of science,technology,and the economy.This paper chooses Newmark’s text typology theory as the foundational translation theory and studies the author’s Chinese-English translation practice of this book based on the translation of informative text in this theory to more thoroughly analyze the translation strategies and methods of this practice.The paper first expounds the background,project introduction,and significance of this research,and then discusses the pre-translation preparation,translation process,and post-translation work done by the author in translation practice,with emphasis on the characteristics of information text.Then,in the part on theoretical basis,the paper expounds ontext typology proposed by Newmark,and mainly discusses several core concepts in the theory,such as the core of information function,the characteristics of information text,communicative translation,and semantic translation.In the main body of the essay,the author examines translation techniques appropriate for texts in the sciences and technologies and analyzes the translated text from three perspectives: lexical level,sytactic level,and textual level,using translation examples.If the conversion is used to bring the translation closer to Western linguistic conventions;make the translation’s sentence structure complete and consistent with English syntactic conventions by amplification;use the voice conversion to make the translation natural,authentic,and widely accepted;use division and reorganization to handle lengthy and complex sentences and to distinguish between hypotaxis and parataxis in English and Chinese,etc.This paper seeks to provide a more comprehensive perspective to promote the practice of Chinese-English information text translation,as well as some reference and illumination for the in-depth study of non-literary translation.
