| Novice Chinese teachers often use Chinese out-of-vocabulary that are not easy for foreign students to understand in their teaching language, which has a negative impact on teacher-student communication.Out-of-vocabulary usually refers to vocabulary that are outside the scope of the syllabus of the curriculum. In this study, since the Chinese language proficiency of foreign learners is at level 3 specified in the Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education(2021),we define outof-vocabulary as vocabulary with a grade above level 3 within the scope of the Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education(2021),as well as vocabulary that is not within the scope of the syllabus but affects students’ understanding.Taking the "Chinese Corner on the Cloud" online Chinese teaching classroom jointly organized by Peking University UK Campus and a university in Wuhan as the research object, this paper analyzes out-of-vocabulary in the classroom teaching language of novice Chinese teachers by means of data statistics and analysis, and conducts simple interviews with 5 novice Chinese teachers to summarize the negative impact of excessive occurrence of out-of-vocabulary in classroom teaching language. Finally, suggestions are put forward for novice Chinese teachers on how to avoid or reduce the use out-of-vocabulary in teaching terms. The first part mainly explains the origin of the research, the research content and methods, expresses the significance of the research, sorts out the relevant research results at home and abroad, and indicates the expected results of the research. The second part is the design and implementation of the study.Firstly, the online teaching scenario involved in the research is introduced, and secondly, the research objects involved in the research, such as Chinese learners, novice Chinese teachers, and out-ofvocabulary,are explained, and then the detailed implementation plans of the research steps including corpus selection, corpus transcription, corpus word segmentation and determination, corpus statistics, corpus analysis and other research steps are sorted out.The third part is the analysis of out-of-vocabulary in classroom teaching language. This chapter first presents out-of-vocabulary in teaching language from three aspects: each class, across classes, and summary. Then, combining with the "Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education"(2021),it conducts specific classification and word-class analysis of the summarized out-of-vocabulary.Next,it uses a quantitative method to analyze the frequency and usage of out-of-vocabulary,and finally summarizes the characteristics of the use of out-of-vocabulary.From the perspective of classroom teaching subjects,it also summarizes the various reasons for the appearance of out-of-vocabulary.The fourth part is about the influence of the use of out-of-vocabulary in the classroom teaching language of novice Chinese teachers and related suggestions. This chapter first expounds the impact of out-of-vocabulary in teaching language on teachers’ teaching and students’ learning from the aspects of target language teaching environment, teaching interaction, and teaching process. Then, from the two aspects of subjective consciousness and concrete action, this paper discusses how novice Chinese teachers should avoid or reduce the use of out-of-vocabulary in classroom teaching terms. The fifth part condenses the main conclusions and identifies areas for further study. |
