The terrestrial faulted basin(or rift basin) is one of the dominant types of petroliferous basins in eastern China with unique oil and gas geological characteristics, Most of faulted basin are consisted of half-grabens, each of them can be subdivided into three tectonic zones, i.e. abrupt slope, deep subsidence and gentle slope. Recent years, oil and gas exploration in slope zones have been achieved great developments continually, and becomes an important field in petroleum exploration, Consequently, it has practical significance to analyze the types and structures of slope zones , distributions and forming regularities of oil & gas pool in slope zones.Damintun Sag in LiaoHe basin is a typical small terrestrial faulted sag , and is well known for the features of high waxy and high pour point oil. Its western slope zone is a kind of complicated slope, The south of western slope zone is a gentle slope, but the north is an abrupt slope, which reveals the complexity of geological structure. The success in oil and gas exploration of Plaeogene in recent years has proved that the western slope also is a favorable hydrocarbon accumulation belt. Guided by the newest theories , technics , methods of modern sedimentlogy , structure geology, reservoir geology, petroleum geology , integrated seismic reservoir inversion and reservoir geochemistry research, this paper studies stratigraphic framework, structural characteristics, the assemblage of reservoirs and caprocks , trap types, source rock characteristics, petroleum systems, distribution and accumulation regularities of oil and gas in detailed . The main controlling factors on oil and gas pool formation are elucidated , and the modes of migration and accumulation of various hydrocarbon reservoirs in west slope zone are built. The hydrocarbon accumulation characteristics of two types reworked slopes are compared. Based on research results listed above, the favorable belts and plays of oil and gas pool-formation are illustrated, and several exploration targets in research area have been predicted also. The new progress and understanding of structures and...
