In this paper, key technology and principle were investigated in processes of making sheep garment leather by enzymes based on structure of sheepskins.First, a systematic study was conducted to acid bating. It includes determination of properties of the acid protease and lipase, application of acid enzymes to processes of bating pickling pelt and wet blue of sheepskins, analysis of activities of collagenase in acid protease and trypsin. Comparison was conducted to acid bating and common bating. Orthogonal experiments were used to determine influence of some factors in acid bating on qualities of leather. Scanning electronic microscope(SEM) was used to observe separating of collage fibers.Then, another systematic study was conducted to enzyme technology in beamhouse operation of sheep garment leather such as soaking, liming, unhairing and deliming.It was developed retanning, dyeing, fatliquoring, dressing and coating technologies matched to enzyme techniques.The results have indicated that acid bating fits to bating of sheepskins especially for sheepskin's loose structure because of more alleviate action of acid enzymes, and acid bating has little loss of hide substance.It also demonstrates that using enzymes in other processes in beamhouse will result in decreasing of operation time and the dosage of hazardous materials such as sodium sulfide, surfactant etc, increasing of amount of fixed chrome in leather and raising yield of leather and qualities.
