Analyzing the present situation of EDM computer numerical control (CNC) technology at home and aboard and combining the latest research achievement about open CNC system, we develop the PC-based four-axis simultaneous control EDM CNC system. In the view of a control system, the architecture and the realization of open CNC system are analyzed and studied. The main contents are as follows:1. On the base of analyzing and studying the architecture of open CNC system, the overall plan architecture and system instruction design of four-axis EDM CNC system are carried out. Utilizing software/hardware resource of the general PC and open moving controller, the developing of CNC system is carried out and modular, standardization and openness of CNC system is realized. The main hardware modules are discussed such as DSP subsystem, gap check subsystem and power source subsystem, the software architecture, interface architecture and I/O interface assignment is investigated and designed. The key software of this system is programmed and tuned and implemented, which can simulate and display the process and situation, realize optimization control of process with the measurement results of sampling. We build the NC technology platform fitting EDM to make EDM NC technology developing towards modular, standardization and intelligence, improving integral performance of EDM machine and developing a new generation high performance EDM CNC system possessing our own new ideas.2.The CAPP expert system of EDM technology is developed to realize self-adaptive choice of process parameters, improve the efficiency and effect of program, provide good human-computer interaction graphic interface. According to the state of discharge gap, combining Database technology, we adopt Neuro-Fuzzy control technology to realize real-time control of EDM process and auto-adjustment on the basis of process state, which ensure the process is in the state of optimization.3. By analyzing properties of servo system and location errors resulted in it, the ways of using optimization of PID parameters controller, determination actually following errors and smooth correction of order code to reduce location errors and enhance properties of servo system arepresented in this thesis, High accuracy dual-closed-loop servo control system to realize high accuracy process is investigated in detail.4. According to the especial properties and function requirement of EDM and order system of moving controller, relative function modules are developed in DLL form. The self-design language transfer module of motion controller realizes tow dimension cutter compensation and three dimension globular-cutter compensation and completes ISO code program to satisfy the requirement of EDM.
