In this paper, a novel method was developed to synthesize nanomaterials with controlled mesoporous distribution absence of any types of templates. And the cheap inorganic salts were used as raw materials. Furthermore, the attempts have been made to identify and investigate the effect of the synthesis method and the synthesis process on the properties of the final materials. Two distinct templateless synthesis routes defined as vacuum sol-gel method and ultrasonic sol-gel method were developed, respectively. By using of these methods, it is able to synthesize amorphous silica-alumina nanomaterials with narrow mesoporous distribution (2-12nm), large specific surface area, strong acidity and wide Si/Al molar ratio. And the results of research show that the material's pore size distribution is mainly determined by the primary particles' size and their distribution. Compared with the vacuum sol-gel method, the ultrasonic sol-gel method favors the formation of precursor sol with high concentration and the materials with larger specific surface area, and has a simply synthesis process.Based on the ultrasonic sol-gel method, it is capable to synthesize Zr, Ti modified mixed oxides, Pt supported electron-acid bi-functional catalysts and strong acidic SO427ZSA catalyst with narrow mesoporors distribution. It is also found that the SC>4 7ZSA catalyst has high reaction activity in the alkylation of 1-butene with i-butane.In this paper, a novel method was also reported to in situ AFM observation of the genesis and growth of nanoparticles during the sol-gel process.
