The operational performance and life of the parts are directly related with materials, heat treatment, precision, surface quality, physical and mechanical performance of surface and so on. Our research indicates that after the confirmation of material and heat treatment, and in the case of guaranteeing the precision, its surface quality has the closest relation with the operational performance and life of the parts. The dominating factor determining the surface quality of the parts depend on the machining technology. That is to say, different machining technology leads to different surface quality, which has crucial influence on theoperational performance of the parts.After the mechanical machining, the surface shape appearance assumes "pinnacle state", but after electrochemical mechanical machining, the surface appearance assumes "tableland type". The research shows that the surface characteristic formed by the electrochemical machining is sharply different from that formed by mechanical machining. So there is great difference among the different character such as friction coefficient, original wear and tear, precision keeping nature, fatigue strength, contact firmness degree, enduring corrode nature and adhering nature, all that mentioned above are of the quality of the products as well. Our research aims at greatly improving the quality of the products by using advanced non-traditional manufacture technology, enriching and perfecting non-traditional machining technology and accelerating its application and spread.For a long time, almost all research on surface finishing and surface quality focus on the traditional finishing technology, thus the research on the non-traditional finishing technology and surface quality after machined is not thorough and systematic. Especially, people haven't come to realize the effect of non-traditional finishing in improving the surface micro-shape of parts. The important value brought by it hasn't been realized. Thus people pay no attention to this kind of technology. The research in this field makes us realize that non-traditional finishing has enormous potentiality of improving the operational and life performance of parts. The research in this field will promote the application and popularization of non-traditional finishing and make a notable impact on the practical production.There are a lot of problems, for example, noise and life of gear, noise and life of bearings and so on, existing in the mechanical products quality in our country. These problems haven't been solved until now. We have already foreboded their enormous potentiality. The research in this field is worth studying thoroughly.The research in this field will make people realize the relations between surface quality and using ability of parts, strengthen the understanding that adopting innovative technology is the key to solving the problem of surface quality. It can bring about enormous social and economic benefits.
