Potaninia mongolica Maxim, is recorded in the Chinese plant red book in 1992, as one of rare and endangered plant. More and more attention has been paid to its important ecological effect, ancient floristic geographic element, specific morphology of cardinal number three in Rosaceae and also to its obvious economic value. As far as research of Potaninia mongolica Maxim, was mainly focused on the ecology and biology fields, However, research on the whole plant adaptive strategies to environment stress of this plant is a weak point.In order to disclose the adaptive strategies and capacity of Potaninia mongolica Maxim, acquired during its evolution history, the whole response system, which was composed of individual morphology plasticity response, organs anatomy structure response, physiological function response of anti-arid and anti-hotness, activities of protective enzymes response, endogenous hormone adjustment response, sexual reproduction strategies response of seeding, dispreading, sprouting and renewing, asexual reproduction strategies response of clonal growth patterns, clonal growth architectures, clonal growth architectures plasticity, heterogeneous resources utilization strategies, endogenous hormone distribution in clonal organs, foraging behavior, risk-spreading, and resource sharing, individual density allocation patterns response, niche differentiation response, species connection response, allelopathy response and biodiversity components response of the plant was profoundly explored in this paper.The studies come to at least four important results: (1) Taking the sensitive response and evading strategy to adapt to environment stress, Potaninia mongolica Maxim is a successful species has lived through the long-term evolution. Nevertheless, it is narrow climate and soil niche and characteristic of vegetation reproduction which has made the plant a rare and endangered species. (2) With its distinct characteristics of high response sensitivity and quick life condition diversion, the response system of Potaninia mongolica Maxim, is different to that of other plants species and the relating study should be important complementary to the research field of adversity resistance of plant species. (3) Since the vegetation reproduction of Potaninia mongolica Maxim, is not square with the traditional definition of clonal plant and out of the traditional research scope, this study will play an important role to the perfection of clonal population ecology.(4)Thepopulation renew and community succession of Potaninia mongolica Maxim, are different to that of classical ecology. Because of the biochemical interactions remain after the still remains after population has degraded and passed away, the allelopathy effect of inhibiting the other plants to settle down is obvious, and thus leads the succession to be interrupted, what was called "succession discontinuation" in this paper.Acceding to the studies, five academic opinions and one protective tactics have put forward as follows:Environment stress response opinion, reproduction strategy opinion, succession discontinuation opinion, stability opinion, bio-climate response opnion, and protective tactics.All these opinions will bring forth profound influence not only on the reproduction ecology, community succession ecology and conservation biology, but also on the restoration ecology and whole plant stress resistance research field.
