In the process of taking part in the project of tutor's research, the author finds that the eco-environmental problem is such complexity that single subject, single technical means or single method is difficult to study it more exactly. In order to study it exactly, we need to apply an integrative research including interactive multi-subjects and concretized multi-techniques.The west of Jilin Province had been an animal husbandry of waterweeds and ox sheep in groups in the past years. Since the half past century, the eco-environment is worsened continually, the balance of eco-environment is destroyed and the ecological function is dropped increasingly under the coactions of nature and human together. All above have led to the increased areas of soda saline land, the seriously degenerated grasslands and the badly shrunk areas of water and wetland and so on. By now, the eco-environment of western region has been one of the most fragile and worst regions in our country. At the same time, because the western Jilin is located in the transition zone between the dry area in inland and the humid area of southeast monsoon climate, its eco-environment system has the features of sensitivity, fragile, mutability. The region is easy to be affected by global change, therefore the problem of eco-environment in western Jilin is in the range of global change research.The problem of eco-environment in western Jilin is typical and representative. It is then very urgent to study the degenerated mechanic of eco-environment and find out recovering and rebuilding measures. Considering the problem of eco-environment and its degraded feature in western Jilin, the author utilized integrated research into western Jilin eco-environment .Integrated research includes integrative theories, integrative ideas, integrative techniques and integrative contents. The paper applied also integrative theories of regional sustainable development, ecological economy and landscape ecology. Integrative idea is made up of systemic, cooperative and dissipative theories. RS, GIS and EIS formed integrated techniques in this paper. The goal of putting forward the optimal case of eco-recovering and eco-rebuilding is to realize the good circulation of eco-environment.Land use and land cover is the most outstanding sign of landscape in the surface of the earth., whose change is the common result of coactions of nature and mankind. At first, weexplain American TM Satellite dates of 1989 and 2001 for western Jilin by means of RS-GIS integrative technique. Land use change can directly reflect the leading factor that arouses land ecosystem change ?human campaign. Therefore the land use change is firstly to explain for the research of eco-environment and provided dynamic data source for other research. According to the result of land use of 1989 and 2001, the areas of infield and soda salt land have been increased and the areas of grass, water and wetland have been decreased during 12 years. The landscape structural index of the plough, forest and soda salt land showed that the boundary of these kinds of land spot pieces developed the direction of simple ness, regularization and concentrates. The broken degree of grass, water and wetland was increased and their boundary shapes developed the direction of complication, no-regularization decentralization. All kinds of land types had mutual transformation under the role of natural and human factors. For example, grass resource transformed firstly to salt soda land and ploughs secondly in the west of Jilin. Soda salt land was depended on the degeneration of water, grass and wetland. The increase of soda salt land and the degeneration of grass had a great influence on the degeneration of eco-environment.The west of Jilin Province is located in the farming pastoral ecotone of the Northern China.
