At present, some scientists pay more attention to synthesize the polymer with well-definded structure from living control polymerization because this can overcome some shortage in the field of traditional radical polymerization, such as the polymerization possess the behavior of out controlled which arose the results of lose of molecular weights, molecular distributions, molecular structure, molecular composing and end functions, and the properties of polymer from radical polymerization were impaired. In the past years, there are several kinds of famous systems and methods in the living control polymerization include Iniferter, TEMPO, RAFT and ATRP, and much attention has been focused on ATRP. In 1995, Jinshan Wang and K.Matyjaszewski etc introduced a kind of living radical polymerization (Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization ATRP), which include initiator (halogenations alkyl), catalyzer (CuCl), ligands (bpy) and monomer (MMA). The ATRP process involves an equilibrium reaction between a low concentration of active radicals (R?) and a much greater concentration of dormant species (RX). The equilibrium reaction is mediated via a reversible redox reaction between a transition metal complex (Mtn/L), and the halogen containing initiator, or dormant species, (RX), forming a radical (R?) and the Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization; Living control polymerization; functional materials; hybrid materials; nanoparticle; polymer brush; ultrathin film...
