Because of its low surface energy, organic silicone material can be used in water-borne coating to eliminate the deficiency of film caused by water. Si-O-Si bones which are formed during curing will stratify with binder and accumulate in the surface of film. Weather resistance, water resistance, chemical resistance, smoothness, scratch resistance and dirt resistance can be improved due to Si—O—Si bones in the surface of film. There is a bright future for applying the organic silicone coating in many fields such as outdoor coating of buildings, industrial protecting coating, finishing coatings of leather and fabric, wood coating. So there are theoretical and practical meanings to study water-borne organic silicone coating.In this paper, the effect of different polymerization technological process on the performance of acrylate emulsion grafted by organic silicone was compared, and the organic silicone-acrylate emulsion with excellent film performance was developed successfully by using seed semibatch emulsion polymerization. In our experiments, the effects of resin formulation and polymerization technical schedule conditions, which include monomer species and mixture ratio, addition order of organic silicone, radical concentration, polymerization temperature, emulsifier level, mixture ratio of nonionic emulsifier and anionic emulsifier, partition of mixture emulsifier between nucleus and shell, pH value, solid content, agitation intensity and so on, on the film performance, polymerization stability, can stability and kinetics were also studied.The experimental results show that particle size, viscosity and stability of emulsion, composition and glass transition temperature of latex polymers, and polymerization rate will be remarkably affected by monomers mixture ratio, species and level of organic silicone. When hinder organic silicone monomer with isopropoxy was used, organic silicone level, emulsion stability and film performance could be improved. The ratio of acrylate grafted by organic silicone increased, and the glass transition temperature decreases along with the increment of organic silicone level.
