The preparation method of a cationic organic fluoro-silicon acrylate copolymeremulsion with low Tg was introduced in this thesis. In order to improve the properties ofthe acrylic emulsion, we made a successful copolymerization between1,3,5-tris(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)-1,3,5-trimethylcyclotrisiloxane(D3F) and acrylic monomer. The structure and properties of the silicone-fluorine modified acrylic emulsion were testedand characterized. The main raw reaction materials of this study are n-butyl acrylate (BA),isooctyl acrylate (2-EHA),(D3F) and vinyl triethoxy silane (VTES). The silicone-fluorinewill be grafted to main chain of polyacrylate during the emulsifier polymerization by usingmixed cationic/nonionic emulsifier as surfactant. The effect of monomer concentration, emulsifier, emulsifier ratio, initiator, ratio ofacrylate and content of silicone-fluorine on the stable emulsion polymerization processhave been studied in this thesis. Also, the optimum reaction conditions and basicprocessing parameters were determined. The components and features such as particle sizeand particle size distribution and particle shape of the obtained cationic organicfluoro-silicon acrylate copolymer emulsion were characterized. In this study, theperformances of resulting emulsion film of different organic silicon fluorine monomercontent were also investigated by the transmission electron microscopy photographs, particle size distribution and FT-IR. The results show that the general propertiesperformances of the emulsion are improved after modified by organic silicone-fluorine.In addition, a red-emitting silicon fluoride acrylate (SFA)-Eu(III) copolymer wasprepared based on water-in-oil emulsion polymerization method. Its photoluminescence including the temporal decay was studied. The results indicate that SFA-Eu(III) copolymeris a potential red component for white LEDs excited by near-UV.
