Surging Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) increase in china's growing city and towns is straining the nation's already strapped land supply. This help spread the application of Municipal Solid Waste Incineration (MSWI) . At the same time, more attention was focus on the secondly pollution of Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Plant (MSWIP) which result in possible serious environmental problems. Since leachate from refuse dump in MSWIP is a complex wastewater containing high concentrations of organic and nitrogen compounds which is inhibitive to biological processes, The study of power-saving biotechnological treatment process for leachate especially the denitrifying process which is suitable for high ammonium nitrogen concentration became urgent affairs. Financially supported by the Foundation of Natural High Technological Project, this research was undertaken to promote the development of new denitrifying process and deepen the study of the microbial degrading mechanism of leachate from refuse dump in MSWIP. Through two years' hard work, following achievement was obtained.Based on the principle of SHARON process and the mechanism of SBR, a new process of Without biomass retention Sequential Batch Reactor (WSBR) was promoted in order to fulfill denitrification over nitrite. Continuous test was carried for the whole process Sequence Batch UASB—WSBR in treating leachate under steady condition, the result indicated that the process had high efficient for the removal of the organic and metal contamination. At the temperature 30℃, feedback time 6h, HRT 10d for Sequence Batch UASB , and HRT 4d , aerobic time ratio 0.33 for WSBR, , the process' removal rate of TOC, BMP, BOD5, COD, TN, TP , SS and TS were 98.0%, 98.8%, 99.2%, 97.3%, 93.5%, 73.6%, 98.2%, 97.7% respectively; the metal containment in the process effluent were all under the national integrate wastewater let-out criterion. Sequence Batch UASB was successfully for the treatment of leachate. Average volumetric COD loading rate 5.61 kgCOD/(m3·d); Average volumetric gas generating rate was 2.75L/(L·d); average COD removal...
