The amide type open-chain ligands have been used for the detection, separation and extraction of metal ions.In additon, they have wide applications in electronic chemisty, biochemisty, medicine and function material. This is largely due to their excellent coordination ability and high selectivity to metal ions, simple synthesis, low cost and toxicity. This paper is focused on the luminescence properties of such series of ligands and their metal complexes. The dissertation includes following four chapters:1.It was given a brief review of the research progress of the amide type ligands and its applications on the fields of chemosensor for metal ions and rare earth luminescence complexes.2.The luminescence properties of rare earth complexes have always attracted much attention for their uses in light-converting devices, fluorescence probes and electroluminescent devices.Studies have shown that the efficient energy transfer from ligand to center ions is the key factor to aehieve rare earth characteristic luminescence. Amide ligands have the advantage in simple synthesis, adjustable structure and changeable sensitive conjugate groups, which make their complexes indicated good luminescence properties. This dissertation reported the synthesis and characterization of series of amide type open-chain ligands L1-8which combined with quinolin-8-ol and different arylamine, and their rare earth complexes. The luminescence properties of the complexes have also been investigated. In order to investigate the coordinating properties of different ligands with rare earth ions, and the influence of different conjugate groups of the ligands to their rare earth complexes luminescence properties.Eight ligands were involved in this chapter:N-phenyl-2-(quinolin-8-yloxy)acetamide(L1)N-benzyl-2-(quinolin-8-yloxy)acetamide(L2)N-(naphthalen-1-yl)-2-(quinolin-8-yloxy)acetamide(L3)2-(quinolin-8-yloxy)-N-p-tolylacetamide(L4)N-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-(quinolin-8-yloxy)acetamide(L5)N-methyl-N-phenyl-2-(quinolin-8-yloxy)acetamide(L6)N,N-diphenyl-2-(quinolin-8-yloxy)acetamide(L7)N-(naphthalen-2-yl)-N-phenyl-2-(quinolin-8-yloxy)acetamide(L8) 3.Metal ions are of relevance in biochemistry, environment science as well as medicine.Detection of metal ions plays important roles in analysis chemistry.More and more fluorescent chemosensor for metal ions bearing amide group have been reported.Chemosensor bearing amide group have wide applications, because they not only overcome the disadvantage of the crown ether sensor, such as difficult synthesis and high cost, but also have good coordination ability to metal ions.In this chapter, L1-5and L9-13have been designed and synthesized. In addition, their selective detection on some familiar metal ions have been investigated. The results show that L1,2,5,9have good selectivity for Zn2+,but L11,13have good selectivity for Ag+.Ten ligands were involved in this chapter:2-(quinolin-8-yloxy)-N-(1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)acetamide(L9)2-{2'-[(1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl-carbamoyl)-methoxy]-pyrocatechol-2-yloxy}-N-(1, 3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)acetamide(L10)2-(2-(5-phenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)phenoxy)-N-phenylacetamide(L11)2-(2-(5-phenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)phenoxy)-N-benzylacetamide(L12)2-(2-(5-phenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)phenoxy)-N-(naphthalen-1-yl)acetamide(L13)4.The Schiff Base type open-chain amide ligands are a series of multidentate ligands which contain N and O atoms. They can coordinate with both transition metal ions and rare earth metal ions.Yet,little research has been done on such ligands. In this chapter,HL14and its Cu2+,Zn2+complexes have been designed and synthesized. It is found that the Zn2+complexes have strong white luminescence and the Cu2+ complexes have particular crystal structures. One ligands were involved in this chapter:4-((3-(phenyl-2-carbamoyl-methoxy)-phenylimino)(phenyl)methyl)-3-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5-ol(HL14)...
