Based on systematically analyzing the research situation of distribution power system planning, this paper puts forward a new idea of introducing GIS into rural power system planning. For the first time presents structure design in general and method for realizing application program of rural power system planning based onGIS.During the research on substation location in rural power subsystem planning, builds space optimal model on the basis of theory of Christaller抯 center geography, which utilizing economic supply radius to optimize the number of substations based on the average load density. With the reference of the said number, uses the method of alternative address selection to achieve the optimal solution.During the research on the planning of 10kV distribution network, founds the 0-1 integer-planning model, and makes use of the method of cryptic enumeration for solution.During the research on the planning of rural power total system, upbuilds the 0-1 integer-planning model, and improves Genetic Algorithm (GA) for solving the model. The idea on chromosome composing of standby substation and route is easy for realization.In addition, the paper studies the design and construction of GIS database for rural power system planning and software method of rural power system planning based on GIS.
