Short-limbed wall is an intergradation of structure style between erose-section-column frame and conventional shear wall structure.This kind of structure can gain better economical benefit and excellent structural function. It is good to save energy as well.There are many earthquakes and seismic-resistance requirements of regions in China. Reseach on short-limbed wall have the importance technical performance and the economic significance. Although the short-limbed wall structural system has used in the engineering practice, the relate norms were not clear. Study on short-limbed wall system of seismic performance and nonlinear finite element is not many.It unable to meet the needs of earthquake engineering.This article have researched the performance of monotonic and low cyclic loads of short-limbed wall by the finite element program ANSYS. The main contents are listed as follow:1 This paper introduced the application of short-limbed wall. It is includes damage criteria, constitutive model, flow rule, strengthen guidelines, reinforced concrete model and convergence criteria of concrete structure of the finite element analysis.2 This article introduced the basic knowledge of ANSYS software. To sum up,this paper includes the input and output data, the theoretical foundation, the cracking and crushing, the destruction of criteria,the failure criteria, the strengthen model and the application of the note of SOLID65 element.3 This paper calculated the different span depth ratio and lenth depth ratiao of short -limbed wall models under monotonic loading, and determined yield displacement of those. Then we got a series of hysteresis curve of the different model of short-limbed wall under low cyclic load.4 Finally, through analysis of hysteresis curves , we obtained the regulation of different span depth ratio of coupling beam and lenth depth ratiao of short-limbed wall models.
