A new theory and method of product evolutionary design and customization production for configuration product is presented in this dissertation. The new theory and method is based on the study of evolving principle of innovative design for MC, which focuses on the innovation and reuse properties for configuration product, and integrates key technologies for motion evolutionary design, assembly evolutionary design, structure evolutionary design and evolutionary reuse of customization production. Furthermore, the new method was applied successfully on the modeling for some projects, and results showed the utility, flexibility and robust of the new technology.The main work of this dissertation is as follows:In chapter I, an overview of the current situation of Computer Aided Conceptual Design and existing design technology for configuration product is given. Then, the merits and deficiencies of existing design method for configuration product are discussed. After that, the main strategy and research background of the new theory for product evolutionary design and customization production for configuration product are introduced.In chapter II, the basic principle of semantic modelon evolution is given. Semantic modelon exists in the process of informational modeling for product evolutionary design, and is defined integrating three elements - Representation, Semantics and Abstract in this dissertation. The 'trinity' is realized because three elements combine all design semantics and conjunction information. Semantic modelon is the carrier of product semantics information and the basic modeling unit. Then by reusing and extending design concept to realize the combination of the semantic modelon denotation and design process. Based on that, a process model of evolutionary design for configuration product is put forward.In chapter III, transform-evolutionary design method for mechanism motion is proposed. First, the motion transform constraint and motion connection constraint carried by function semantics are described. Then, mapping relationship between functional constraint and mechanism combinational constraint is given. Based on that, motion hierarchical evolution model is built. This model combines function semantics and transform evolution process of motion function solving to support Computer Aided Motion Evolutionary Design.In chapter IV, mapping-evolutionary design method for product assembly is proposed. This method can express the assembly relationship more concisely and by the way more adaptable for designer's habits. Constrain rules for assembly semantics are given to map and translate the assembly relationship from semantics layer togeometric constraint layer. At the same time, an assembly semantics relation graph is given to realize multi-hierarchical semantics relating and the assembly driving based on semantics which can support the assembly evolutionary model. Moreover, mapping-evolutionary algorithm for multi-hierarchical semantics relating and the assembly driving based on semantics is presented.In chapter V, linkage-evolutionary design method for parts structure is proposed. First, coupling modelon is defined to express structure coupling constraint abstractly. Based on that, a coupling semantics relation graph is given to show the parts structure model for evolutionary design. Then, an operation method for coupling semantics which focus on the process evolution is presented. This method integrates evolutionary operation and linkage-evolutionary algorithm for structure model rebuilding to realize the dynamically editing for parts structure evolutionary model.In chapter VI, customization production technology based on evolutionary reuse for configuration product is proposed. The similarity of reusable semantic modelon is analyzed, and the computing method for similarity index of semantic modelon is given.
